Although this is a time of recession, there seems to be one industry that is not affected but is growing. The Smartphone Industry is continuously coming out with new models and there are always buyers eagerly waiting for these new products. It seems as though while people are over budgeting they are also overspending on their cell phone options. The industry is expected to rise over twenty five percent while the overall cell phone industry is projected to decline.
The reasoning of this phenomenon is not just the features you receive with owning a smartphone but rather the status and reliability associated with this product. People who do not have instant communication at their hands have a slower reaction time to emails and social sites. Also, those who are in the job market see the smartphone as an advantage to other job seekers who do not.
Another argument for popularity is there is a community that is built around smartphones, from the hundreds of thousands of Apps available to the overall perception of a smartphone user. If someone does not have the technology and current trends at their fingertips it can cause a feeling of disconnect from popular events and topics, you rarely see blogs or articles written about the regular cell phones.
